Interests and Hobbies
I am currently fluent in three languages: English, Russian, and French. I love being able to experience literary works in multiple languages and from multiple perspectives. Another advantage this gives me is the ability to read news in multiple languges, providing me with different perspectives on issues and events. Another benefit is the potential to work internationally: in a modern, globalised economy, the advantages this can bring are not insignificant.
One important driving factor behind my fascination with economics is the realisation that so many of our motivations, both individual and group, are ecnomical in nature. Furthermore, the way that our monetary systems have evolved over time is truly fascinating. Knowing that society's currency transitioned from a barter system, to one backed by the gold standard, and finally to fiat and cryptocurrencies, one is left wondering what other shifts the future could hold. Below are some links to resources I have been pursuing in my spare time to further my knowledge in this area.
Another quality I possess, that has been both a blessing and a curse over the years, is my absolute love for literature. Specifically, I enjoy both fantasy and early science fiction. Some authors I’ve read and enjoyed in the past include Robert Heinlein, Roger Zelazny, Isaac Asimov, Jules Verne, Douglas Adams, Andrzej Sapkowski, and Harry Harrison. I’ve also read some more modern fantasy in the form of Brent Weeks’s and Patrick Rothfuss’s works. My all-time favourite novel is likely “Nine Princes in Amber” by Zelazny.
